How to Adult: Teaching Life Skills to Teens
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 201 ABC
It’s no secret that teens need life skills to survive in the real world. Libraries are already celebrated as learning institutions – we offer books and resources to expand the fountain of knowledge, but what about soft skills? We’re here to tell you that libraries can help with that too! By starting a Life Hacks workshop series for teens at your library, you will be preparing teens for success in the real world.
An online version of this concurrent program session was also presented during the PLA 2018 Virtual Conference.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Know how to foster community engagement through partnerships with local organizations that serve youth
2: Plan and implement a series of life skills workshops for teens in their community, with or without a funding source
3: Apply findings in the YALSA Future's Report to their library programming in a practical way
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: High interaction (examples: facilitated discussion; small group collaborative work; hands-on activity or application)
