Engineering Partnerships: How to Take STEAM Programs to New Heights in Your Community
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 204 ABC
If children are in after-school care facilities, how can they benefit from the public library’s afternoon enrichment programs? Imagine the impact you could have by partnering with these sites to offer STEAM programs. Join us for a highly interactive session in which we will share how our library visited 10 after-school care sites per month through the creation of STEAM kits and brainstorm how your library can do the same without grant funding.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Deveop a personalized, actionable list of ideas for STEAM activities they can implement with their library's existing resources at local after-school care sites 2: Develop a manageable schedule of subject-based programs that appeal to a variety of ages and a personalized, actionable list of potential sites to contact in their communities 3: Be able to provide rationale to their colleagues and administrators as to why delivering outside STEAM programs is a critical value add for the library
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 2: People with some knowledge, who want to increase their understanding.
This session will have: High interaction (examples: facilitated discussion; small group collaborative work; hands-on activity or application)
