Collective Impact Models That Work for Tackling Grade Level Reading and Other Big Goals
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 109 AB
While libraries often endeavor to take on the toughest problems facing their communities, even a core issue like literacy can be difficult to make progress on at a large, measurable scale. Using examples from Philadelphia and Charlotte, this session will explore how Collective Impact models can position libraries to substantially impact literacy and grade level reading rates and other issues by coordinating efforts of key partners, advancing policy, and mobilizing multiple funding sources.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Understand the advantages and limitations of Collective Impact strategies 2: Be able to identify opportunites to apply Collective Impact strategies given community and library characteristics 3: Be able to advocate for Collective Impact strategies in their communities and institutions where appropriate
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
