Saturday, March 24, 2018, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 201 ABC
New studies show libraries using Every Child Ready to Read have stronger engagement of parents and more diverse program offerings than others. Join this session to hear the results of federally-funded research showing ECRR’s impact on library services and parent behavior. ECRR helps libraries become learning spaces and strategically focus services on fostering parent engagement. The family engagement framework developed by PLA and its application in your library will also be highlighted.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Articulate the value of ECRR model and its benefits to society to library, families and communities 2: Develop plans to implement parent/caregiver-focused early literacy and family engagement programs at the library 3: Understand basic research behind family engagement and how their library can integrate with the movement in education and other community services to better support parents/caregivers
