Providing Immigration Services in Public Libraries: Making It Possible is Not Impossible
Thursday, March 22, 2018, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 107 AB
Librarians are obtaining a credential from the Department of Justice to provide immigration services outreach, screenings, and referrals. Several use the credential to provide direct assistance to those applying for immigration relief. Join us for a panel discussion of how libraries in California are leading the way in providing immigration services. Learn about how these libraries are addressing a community need and what steps have been necessary in order for them to provide these services.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Understand what is necessary to be able to provide immigration services 2: Be able to talk to their library administrators about the benefits of providing immigration services 3: Know where and how to obtain credentialed training to provide immigration services
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
