Let’s Make a Deal! Creative Collection Floating Opportunities
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 108 AB
Learn how the Houston (TX) Public Library addressed challenges in managing their floating collection and re-envisioned the role of floating in their overall collection management strategy. Far beyond simply handling the redistribution of bestseller returns, floating has become a major system-wide resource sharing tool and provides a creative means for handling many special projects. Attendees will participate in a small group activity, imagining and sharing floating ideas that might be implemented in their own libraries.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Understand the benefits of dedicating staff to centralized floating management 2: Learn about innovative uses of floating as a collection management tool 3: Be inspired to use floating creatively
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
