Concurrent Program Session

Coach Your Team to Greatness

Friday, March 23, 2018, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Pennsylvania Convention Center, Ballroom B

One of the library’s most important assets is its staff; however, we often wait a full year to give them feedback on their work. Anoka County (MN) Library recently switched to a coaching model, which included writing new work outcome statements for all staff and training supervisors to be coaches. Supervisors now meet with staff regularly to review progress on goals and improve performance, gather ideas on training needs and more.

An online version of this concurrent program session was also presented during the PLA 2018 Virtual Conference.

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Learn what the coaching model is and how it was implemented in Anoka County
2: Understand how the coaching model changed the way supervisors and staff interact and improved communication in the library
3: Develop work outcome statements from the ground up in order to get buy-in from staff

The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 2: People with some knowledge, who want to increase their understanding.

This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
