Finding Focus: Strategic Planning through Collaborative Drawing

Experience a strategic planning activity designed to engage any number of participants, give everyone a voice, and activate different areas of the brain while surfacing priorities, exploring creative solutions, and documenting community needs. This collaborative drawing activity was developed to engage all 300+ Richland (SC) Library employees in visual conversations to direct its new strategic plan.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Experience and learn a new facilitation technique enabling you to incorporate drawing into brainstorming and planning sessions. 2: Understand the scientific benefit of using art and drawing in problem solving and identify resources to further explore collaborative problem solving through art and design. 3: Gain tools to help frame community conversations which can be adapted and scaled for a variety of audiences and settings and facilitated within as little as 30 minutes, combining elements of Brainwriting 6-3-5 and Service Design.
