Flipped Classroom: Turning Traditional Library Programs Upside Down

Saturday, March 24, 2018, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Pennsylvania Convention Center, 103 AB

Representatives from Gwinnett County (GA) Public Library will discuss and demonstrate techniques for using the flipped classroom model of educational programming. This method embraces a “learn together” approach that builds upon existing content vs. a traditional instructor-student dynamic. Flipped classrooms are versatile and powerful, lending themselves to an endless array of possibilities. This approach accommodates individual learning needs and pacing while fostering group support and collaboration. The final result is a cumulative and immersive learning experience for all ages.

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Understand the basic methodology and benefits of the Flipped Classroom concept. 2: Have examples of Flipped Classroom programming utilized by GCPL, including tips for success and challenges 3: Learn ways to adapt the Flipped Classroom for your library system to provide meaningful learning experiences within your community.

The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.

This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
