Library Live and On Tour: On the Road to Outreach Services
Friday, March 23, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Pennsylvania Convention Center, 113 ABC
Library Live and On Tour (LiLi) is a stereotype-shattering outreach service that brings the public library to marginalized and socially-excluded populations. While not a bookmobile, LiLi connects with members of the community where they are: shelters, transition homes, First Nations communities, corrections facilities, clubhouses for adults with special needs, etc. LiLi is able to reduce barriers by creating library memberships, waiving fines, and having?conversations about the library – all on the road!
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Explain methods of outreach services for marginalized and socially-excluded populations. 2: Explore and discuss ways that they can incorporate technology and "unlibrary-like" features into outreach services at their library 3: Implement new ways of connecting with community organizations and creating mutually beneficial partnerships that promote the library while serving the community.
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Low interaction (example: single speaker/panel with Q&A at the end of the program)
Track: Collaborate
