CANCELLED – Re-Envisioning the Library: Engaging Staff and Building Capacity for Change

Friday, March 23, 2018, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM

Pennsylvania Convention Center, 113 ABC

How can a library engage in dialogues with the general public, local government, organizations and school districts in a two-county service area spanning 1500+ square miles and more than 11 unique communities? This was the challenge for Daniel Boone Regional Library (MO) in creating a strategic planning process focused on turning outward and engaging the community. Learn how DBRL took this opportunity to create a process that engaged staff and built organizational capacity while re-envisioning the library.

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Engage staff in their planning process to imagine the possibilities to make a difference in their workplace and community 2: Assess how they can incorporate the "Aspen Institute Action Guide for Re-Envisioning Your Public Library" in their planning process 3: Identify opportunities to increase staff engagement and build organizational capacity through their library's planning process

The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 2: People with some knowledge, who want to increase their understanding.
