Concurrent Program Session

How One Small Library Strives to Be the Community’s University

Saturday, March 24, 2018, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM

Pennsylvania Convention Center, 105 AB

The Upper Dublin (PA) Public Library elevated its profile when library staff made lifelong education a goal and brought impactful programming to the core of its mission. UDPL librarians will share how their focus on early literacy, STEM, and continuing education for adults rises above the traditional, aligns with residents? needs, and involves the community in its own success. No additional staff required!

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Be able to implement simple strategizing techniques for identifying community priorities and staying on focus with or without a formal strategic plan. 2: Be able to identify methods for connecting with people and institutions in their communities to support an impactful programming focus. 3: Have the knowledge needed to analyze staffing that could be realigned to support the developing role of the library as the community?s university

The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 2: People with some knowledge, who want to increase their understanding.
