Concurrent Program Session

Sustaining Ideation with Progress, Not Perfection

Thursday, March 22, 2018, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Pennsylvania Convention Center, 107 AB

Idea management is a strategy used in many industries outside of libraries. Ideas can be incomplete, off-target, or disappear into the ether, returning as successful implementations by a different library. As frontline staff shift from our item-focused history to a customer-centered culture, now is the time to harness insights and put them to work. Get lessons learned from libraries in different stages of adopting or sustaining idea management in public libraries.

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Define three characteristics of an idea management system 2: Gain insight on scalable models and platforms for supporting purposeful innovation 3: Know what not to do when introducing a process from ideation to implementation

The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.

This session will have: Medium interaction (example: single speaker/panel with questions or discussion throughout)
