Staff training and development is often overlooked but crucial to the support of staff. Learn from four different libraries about how staff training is fundamental and an essential strategy to serving our communities with compassion and enthusiasm. Topics covered will include: utilizing staff talent, rethinking our understanding of training, and building a culture of learning!?
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Be prepared to take the first steps in creating a simple, consistent professional development schedule for their library 2: Leave with practical tools and tips to engage staff and patrons learning from and with each other 3: Gain practical ideas for staff training and development that can be implemented in any library setting

Focuses include: small libraries, strategic planning, collection development, and readers' advisory. Kristi is a columnist with Library Journal, reviewing science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
